About Sweet Dreams…
I was in my final years of high school, when i realised that my chirpy and very ordinary brain could write. After some successful wins in inter-school debates and some devastatingly failed attempts at inter-class symposiums, I thought that maybe it’s time to nudge the writer in me.
By that slight push, I found love, happiness, contentment and tears (very frequent). All for writing.
I had always found myself floating in an ocean of similes, adjectives, metaphors, analogies, verbs and conjunctions. Never had I thought that i’d be able to sew a career out of these multi-coloured threads.
This dream started with admiring Larry King, Giuliana Rancic, Aroon Purie, Barkha Dutt, Oprah Winfrey (yes, I considered her a journalist) and Barbara Walters. I dreamt about standing in front of the camera and reporting from Afghani war sites. I dreamt about flaunting a golden backless gown on the Academy Awards red carpet and interviewing George Clooney. I dreamt about sitting in my pyjamas at a commercial radio station office and entertaining the local commuters with my elephant and ant jokes.
I’m still trying to comprehend the time period when those dreams subsided and when my more ‘realistic’ dreams came into existence. Well that depends if you tag, being an editor of Vogue, as a realistic dream.
Sweet Dreams in my world will take you on a tour in the world of a freelance journalist. I’m not promising you a Walkley award winning post or idea, but do promise a smile on your face. Or maybe a tear.
This is where I’ll post articles that won’t get published any where else. I’ll intertwine; fashion, beauty, relationships, photography, food, culture and life – all in my little baby.
